Hey everyone! I know it has been a super long time and I apologize, but I have been so busy and having so much fun while in Japan! So, you might wonder,
exactly what the crap am I doing in Japan anyways? Well, you can see from the image I am being a lamer posing in Ryukyu Village with some local Japanese
people and some Americans.
But aside from that, what do I do for work you might wonder? Well, actually, I am working for a great man, his name is Colonel Woodard. Go ahead, Google
him, I'll wait. COL Woodard is the post commander for Torii Station, in Yomitan, Okinawa. I assist him by scheduling his meetings along with his
Deputy Commander, Executive Officer, and the Command Sergeants Major. My co-worker is Taka-san, who I share conversations with between English and
Japanese.
Next month I am excited for, because my friend Ichie is coming from America for a visit. Also, her twenty-first birthday is soon to arrive! 来月、私の
友達は一恵たんは沖縄県に来てる! 興奮してる! そして、彼女は21才になる。 I have known Ichie since I was a junior in high school. 三年生でとき、一恵たんに会った。
Also, I have cut off all my hair, you may not know. My hair was to my lumbar, or lower part of my back. But I do not like having long hair, so I have
cut it to my shoulders once more.
I very much
enjoy living in Okinawa. I am glad to have came here and enjoyed the two months I have spent thus far. I have met amazing people, American and
Japanese, and we have made great friendships, I think so at least.
Though sometimes it can be stressful doing what a soldier does, I am glad of my decision to reenlist in the American Army. From doing so, I have received
so many great opportunities I would not have ever received before. I am able to see many foreign countries, including the homeland of my grandmother,
Germany. I have seen Japan (though I have seen Honsyu before), and of course I have made some of the best friends a person could ask for... though
sometimes there is a lot of drama involved.
So I ask you, what is a job more appropriate than a soldier where you get a pay raise EVERY year, and you can act like a complete jackass, and STILL
get promoted, and go to any destination you feel like? There isn't another one. In 2009, hundreds of thousands of people lost their job... I
got a raise, I got to come to Japan, I make over $30k/year doing nothing at all but living life up in paradise, speaking Japanese all day long, and
studying biology in my spare time... where else can you do that? Exactly.
