This week to say the least has been the most frustrating week of my life. First, I feel like I am surrounded by nothing but conceited people. If something isn't going to work out in their favor, they don't bother with it. So, when their subordinates need help, too bad.

Perfect example is today. Today I decided that I cannot let Adam beat me in his GT score for his ASVAB. So, I went down to the Education Center and attempted to schedule a retake for it. But, I need permission from my commander, Captain Oladipofaniyi. No problem. I was given a DA Form 4187 and went back to my office. So, I see on there I need to list someone from my S-1 section to send the results to. So, in my noggin I ponder, "Could this person be Specialist Scalogna?" Then I wonder aloud to Sergeant Courtney.

He picks up the phone and calls S-1 asking them about the 4187. So nice, right? It would have been if he asked who in S-1 deals with ASVAB scores. Instead, he starts yelling at me telling me I don't need a 4187 and I have to go back to the Education Center and tell them to just give me the test. That's not how it works. So, needless to say, I got frustrated with him. When Staff Sergeant Williams came out of the office, I asked him. He told me exactly what I wanted to hear, "Yes, Specialist Scalogna is the point of contact for that." Problem solved, right?

No, Sergeant Courtney got butt hurt that I asked the next person above him. He started to verbally counsel me and told me if I start "acting out" more that he'll recommend the maximum punishment he could for me being "insubordinate." Then, he starts asking me what's going on with me. He kept me late in the office just to basically talk to me about something I'm not going to ever tell him.

So then, he starts telling me my hair is two-toned and that is against AR 670-1. No where in AR 670-1 does it state, "Two-toned hair is not allowed." I would know, I have a copy right HERE next to my personal computer. AND I have another copy on my desk at work. AR 670-1 is my best friend, bitch tells me everything I gotta know. So anyways, he tells me my roots MUST be touched up by Friday. Okay, if I have to update my roots then so does Specialist Taylor, Staff Sergeant Eddins and Specialist Scalogna need to get rid of their high lights, and then Specialist Campbell needs to get rid of the red tint to her hair and fill in her roots which are BROWN on PLATINUM blonde hair.

For me, it's frustrating they nit-pick everything, but what may be wrong with me and on someone else is fine. And here's what I have noticed... The commander is black, command sergeant major is black, the first sergeant is black, the platoon sergeant is black, two out of four squad leaders are black, my first line is black... Staff Sergeant Eddins is black, Specialist Campbell's husband is black, Specialist Taylor is in a different platoon... Specialist Scalogna is Staff Sergeant Eddin's soldier. I've noticed that anyone and everyone that says something is wrong with me or my uniform, they're black. I'm not black, so I have to be perfect? I can't wear corrective lenses of the right prescription because they have a slight tint and must wear glasses that I can't see out of, even though both are out of AR 670-1, yet the black Sergeant First Class that corrected me can wear glasses that say Prada down the side?

They say, "Check down, not up." But here's what I think: If you're in the wrong yourself, don't come tell me I am wrong. Because now you get a lovely IG complaint on your hands now.
