Irasshaimase is the header for this page if you noticed or cared to read. Irasshaimase is typically said in shops around Japan as a welcome phrase. I could have used youkoso, but I preferred to use irasshaimase. Youkoso means "welcome" and is typically said within a phrase, or it may be used individually. 日本にようこそ! is a common phrase you may hear in, around, among Japan. :)

I suggest if you are unable to read katakana/hiragana to visit this link and learn the chart. Because I will scarcely use romaji. I stated that signs are NOT in romaji (except the occassional name, such as Murakami's in Shibuya or a common shop in Tokyo. Learn Hiragana, and I'll teach you kanji.
